■ Step1_49: 옆.왼쪽.오른쪽 left.right side, 그리고 거꾸로
■side,sides,sided- sided,sided[싸이드,싸이즈,싸이디드- 싸이딩,싸이디드]
front.behind, top.bottom에 대응하는 어감으로 옆(좌우)... 이란 말이고 또,
지역.면.쪽.편.... 이란 말이기도 하다. 한글과 쓰임과 어감이 거의 같으므로, 한글에서 쓰는 어감으로 말하면 큰 무리가 없다.
▶먼저, 지역,면,쪽,편.... 이란 어감으로 말덩이를 만들어 보면,
서쪽(지역) west side => 서울의 서쪽지역 the west side of Seoul
동쪽(지역) east side => 서울의 서쪽지역 the east side of Seoul
남쪽(지역) south side => 서울의 서쪽지역 the south side of Seoul
북쪽(지역) north side => 서울의 서쪽지역 the north side of Seoul
안쪽.바깥쪽 => inside <> outside
위쪽.아래쪽 => upside <> downside
앞쪽(면).뒷쪽(면) => the front side <> the back side
왼쪽(편).오른쪽(편) => the left side <> the right side
내쪽.네쪽.그이쪽 => my side <> your side <> his side
천.종이 등의 표면(앞면).뒷면 => the right side <> the wrong side
외탁이야 친탁이야? 엄마쪽이지. => 엄마쪽 mother's side <> father's side
세상의 밝은면을 보고 살아야지. => 밝은면 the bright side of the world
린다는 웃기는 면이 있어. => Linda has somewhat funny side.
일면은 맞는 말이야. 그러나, 다른면에서는 틀렸어.
=> 일면 one side, 다른면 the other side
아니야, 모든 것은 양면이 있어. => 양면 two sides
그래도, 양면 다 틀렸어. => 양면 both sides
▶전후.상하.중심에 대응하는 어감으로, 옆(허리)라는 말덩이를 만들어 보면,
네 옆구리좀 봐라. => 네 옆구리 your side
왼쪽 옆구리. 오른쪽 옆구리 => left side <> right side
네 왼쪽 옆구리. 네 오른쪽 옆구리 => your left side <> your right side
도로 양쪽에 코스모스가... 도로를 기준으로 도로의 가장자리라는 어감 =>
도로 양쪽(가장자리) roadsides,
도로의 한쪽(가장자리) the one side of the road
도로의 양쪽(가장자리) the both sides of the road
도로의 가장자리 각각 the each side of the road
본업에 대해 => 부업 a side job
약이 본래의 의도한 효과 외에, 부수적으로 일어나는 => 부작용 side effect
▶side에는 ~에.~로 라는 어감이 없으니까, 그런 어감을 가진 at,on,in,to,from을 붙여서 말해보면,
오른 쪽에. 왼쪽에 => on the right side <> on the left side
줄이면 => on the right <> on the left
오른손 쪽에. 왼손쪽에 => on the right hand side <> on the left hand side
오른쪽에서 왼쪽으로 => from the right side to the left side
줄이면 => from rigth to left.
이쪽편에? => at this side, on this side, in this side
이쪽편으로. 이쪽편으로부터? => to this side <> from this side
이쪽편에서 저쪽편으로? => from this side to that side
면과 면을 나란히? 면(side) 옆에(by) 면(side)을 나란히 => side by side
모든 면 all side =>
모든 면에.모든 지역에 => on all side, in all side,
모든 지역.면에서, 모든 지역.면으로 => from all side, to all side
▶이제 말을 해보면,
톰이 옆으로 누워있다. => Tom is lying on his side.
톰이 왼쪽 옆으로 누워 있으면 => Tom is lying on his left side.
톰이 엎드려 누워 있으면 => Tom is lying on his front.
톰이 등을 깔고 누워있으면 => Tom is lying on his back.
자넨 도대체 누구편이야? => 물론, 네편이지. Of course, I am at your side.
차선을 잘못 가고 있잖아.오른쪽 차선으로 가야지. 왼쪽차선이 아니고.
We're on the wrong side!
We've to drive on the right side. Not the left side(of the road).
어디있다고? => 우리집 오른쪽(편)에 있어.
=> It's at the right side of my house.
쭉 가면, 왼편에 하나수퍼가 보일거야. 그러면, 그걸 지나서 왼편으로 돌아라.
Go ahead and you'll see Hana Superstore on your left side. So, turn left after it.
사진을 보면서; 가운데가 나고, 양쪽에 린다와 수잔이야.
Me in the center, and Linda and Susan on each side of me.
가운데는 나고, 내 왼쪽이 린다, 오른쪽이 수잔이야.

■거꾸로,바꾸어,뒤집어 보면,
▶뒤로.거꾸로 back[백]+ 쪽으로 ward[워드] = backwards[뱈워즈]
위쪽을 아래쪽으로 뒤집어면 => upside down
아래쪽을 위로 뒤집으면 => downside up
안쪽을 바깥쪽으로 뒤집으면 => inside out
잘못된쪽을 밖으로 뒤집으면 => wrongside out
※옷.양말.. 등은 안쪽(inside)가 잘못된 쪽(wrongside)이지? 그럼, wrongside[롱싸이드:잘못된 쪽]을 out[아웉:바깥쪽]으로 뒤집으면,
테이블 다리를 고치려고, 테이블을 뒤집어 놓으면,
=> put the table upside down
붙이다 stick,sticks,stuck- sticking,stuck[스틱,스틱스,스턱- 스팈킹,스턱]
포스트가 너무 밋밋하니까, 차라리 뒤집어 붙여볼까?
How about sticking the poster upside down?
깨끗이 틀어야 하니까, 이 자루를 (안팎으로) 뒤집어라.
=> Turn this bag inside out.
그냥 뒤집어! Just inside out!
애기가 양말을 뒤집어 신으면=> 양말을 뒤집어 신었네.
=> You're putting on the socks inside out.
또는> You're putting on the socks wrongside out.
▶앞.뒤를 거꾸로 하면 => backwards
애가 옷을 앞뒤로 거꾸로 입으면,
야, 셔츠의 앞.뒤가 바뀌었네. 거꾸로네. 앞이 뒤로 갔네.
=> Hey, the shirt's backwards.
아니야, 우선순위가 잘 못 됐어. *priorities[프리아러티즈:일의 우선순위]
=> No. You've got the priorities back to front.
▶좌.우가 틀리면,
신발한짝을 다른쪽(왼쪽신을 오른쪽. 또는 오른쪽 신을 왼쪽)에 신으면
=> The shoe is on the wrong foot.
톰, 신발을 잘못 신었네. => Tom, Your shoes are on the wrong feet.
▶글자,숫자 등을 뒤에서 거꾸로 읽거나 쓰면,
수자를 거꾸로 읽으면 => read the numbers backwards
알파벳을 거꾸로 말하면 => say alphabet backwards
글자를 거꾸로 쓰면 => write down the words
If we read 1234 backwards, it'll be 4321.
If we say ABCD backwards, it'll be DCBA.
